The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Lytvyn predicts that appointment of Kyiv City Mayor elections will be considered after the parliamentary elections.
On Tuesday, answering the journalists’ questions in Zhytomyr region, V. Lytvyn reminded that the Verkhovna Rada received a letter from the Kyiv City Council signed by the secretary with a request to adopt the respective decision concerning election of the Kyiv Mayor. “As of today,” said V. Lytvyn, “the specialized committee has not provided its conclusions in regard to this issue.” “I think, the committee is facing a complicated decision, considering that it will have political basis in any case,” he said.
V. Lytvyn stressed that reaching understanding and compromise in regard to the date of mayor elections“at least among political factions of the Verkhovna Rada” is extremely important. According to him, “complicated discussions, complicated assessments, and prognoses are taking place now, and everything will depend on the results of parliamentary elections.”
