The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn believes that practical implementation of the European choice and good relations with Russia are the preconditions for Ukraine to be successful.
Being at the point of intersection of the European and Eastern civilizations, Ukraine developed following the European model and, therefore, belongs to Europe, it belongs to Europe historically. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn stressed this at teacher conferences in Baranivka, Novohrad-Volynskyi and Chervonoarmiysk districts of Zhytomyr region on Tuesday. Therefore, he claims, “the main question now is how to realize the European choice in practice taking into consideration the total historical experience and psychology of many people.”
The Head of the Parliament noted that we should not idealize Europe, but see its advantages – first of all, freedom to arrange life rationally, and the results. “Ukraine cannot remain the European who is always late,” he said. “The preconditions to Ukraine’s success are: to remain in Europe and have good relations with Russia.”
