The thesis on preserving the Ukrainian nation in the broad sense of this word should become the national idea.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Lytvyn expressed this opinion answering the journalists’ questions in Zhytomyr region on Friday.
V. Lytvyn stressed that it is important to understand apparent truth – “personal interest of citizens determines the development of a country in the world.” “It is necessary to combine personal interests of citizens with state interests. This is when we will have results,” he believes.
“Now is the time to present the thesis as the national idea: preservation of the Ukrainian nation in a broad sense of the word and creation of conditions for every person to realize their vision of their place in social life would be the recipe for general welfare,” he said and added: “Welfare of every person is the necessary precondition for general welfare and prosperity of the country.”
V. Lytvyn participated in the solemn events dedicated to the 21st anniversary of Ukraine’s independence in Yemilchyne and Chervonoarmiysk districts of Zhytomyr region today.
