The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine V. Lytvyn participates in the international literature and arts festival "Lesyni dzherela (Lesia?s sources)" taking place in Novohrad-Volynskyi of Zhytomyr region.
Volodymyr Lytvyn headed the solemn march of the participants and guests of the festival commemorating the prominent poetess Lesia Ukrayinka. Guests from Belarus, Russia, Georgia, Croatia and Poland visited Novohrad-Volynskyi this day.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine visited the literary-memorial museum of L. Ukrayinka, laid flowers to the monument of the poetess and visited the "artisans? town" and the book festival. V. Lytvyn participated in the presentation of the loaf "Zvyahil loaf as a symbol of homeland unity."
Speaking at the solemn meeting under the Lesia Ukrayinka monument, V. Lytvyn stressed that "Lesia?s festival has outgrown the boundaries of Novohrad-Volynskyi and the boundaries of Zhytomyr region." He stressed that the best monument and tribute to Lesia Ukrayinka would be bringing to life everything that would make the life of people in their Homeland decent.
Talking to the journalists before that, V. Lytvyn noted that Lesia Ukrayinka?s creativity is now more topical than ever. He recollected the lines from the writer?s works where she addressed the God asking: "How long will we wander around our own country looking for our own land?" V.Lytvyn believes that the wish of some critics "to dig into the biographies of geniuses and present it as some novelty and personal courage" is very surprising.
It is the 26th festival of literature and arts "Lesyni dzherela (Lesia?s sources)" held in Novohrad-Volynskyi.
Since 1990 the festival has become all-Ukrainian, and since 1994 an international festival of literature and arts.
