The Committee on Environmental Policy, Use of Natural Resources and Chornobyl Aftermath Mitigation analyzed the work on performance of the Committee's decision of June 6, 2012 regarding construction of midget power plants in mountainous areas

First and foremost, this pertains to observance of current Ukrainian legislation and international agreements while planning the construction of midget power plants in mountainous areas, adoption of decisions on permit issue to design and construct midget power plants, as well as consideration of comprehensive approach to assessment of advantages and disadvantages of their construction, anti-flood measures in Carpathian area, development of environmental network and reserve fund, mountain river basin management, and results of respective public discussions.

 

To bring the decision to life, the Cabinet of Ministers has been instructed to see to the fact that the central bodies of executive power take the respective measures.

 

The Prosecutor General?s Office of Ukraine has sent the decision of the Committee to the prosecutors of Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv and Chernivtsi regions to check the observance of environmental legislation of Ukraine while designing, constructing and operating midget power plants in Carpathian region.
