The Committee on Environmental Policy, Use of Natural Resources and Chornobyl Aftermath Mitigation recommends that the Parliament should adopt as a basis the bill to amend several legislative acts of Ukraine regarding implementation of the provisions of the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context

The bill (reg.No.10651) aims at establishing legal procedure for implementation of environmental impact assessment of the Espoo Convention and Aarhus Convention.

The bill stipulates:

the procedure of submission and consideration of the claim regarding intentions to carry out activities that may cause or cause negative influence on human life and health or the environment;

determines kinds of activities towards which the procedure of assessment of impact on the environment will be applied;

establishes demands regarding discussion of the procedure of environmental impact assessment, etc.

The bill also determines the procedures specially aimed at implementation of the Espoo Convention.

The Committee members believe that the implementation of provisions of the bill will allow for establishing effective mechanisms regarding environmental impact assessment.
