The decision was taken on July 8, at the XXI Annual Session of the OSCE PA in Monaco (Monaco Principality).
The draft resolution was initiated by the Head of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Head of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Foreign Affairs, Vice-President of OSCE PA Oleh Bilorus and adopted by the overwhelming majority of votes without any amendments or remarks.
The Head of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada stressed the importance of work of the PA, which is one of the leading organizations dealing with conflict resolution in the region and the key instrument for prevention of conflicts, settlement of crises and post-conflict renovation. It continues playing an important role in creation of safe and stable OSCE community from Vancouver to Vladivostok.
During the discussion, O. Bilorus stressed the inalienable right of every country to participate in political and military alliances considering the necessity to fulfil the provisions of the UN Charter, the Helsinki Final Act, the Charter of Paris, etc.
