Opening the event, the head of the Committee Natalia Korolevska stressed the necessity to have comprehensive state support of Ukrainian dairy industry. According to her, Ukraine needs an optimal model for development of agro-industrial complex (AIC) that would provide for quality products accessible for Ukrainian consumers and competitive on external markets.

N. Korolevska believes that three key tasks should be performed to accomplish this goal, namely: determine minimum purchase prices; provide governmental grants for production of social food products; create favorable conditions for investment into large dairy farms.

Participants of the hearings discussed the bill to amend article 3 of the Law "On State Support of Agriculture in Ukraine" regarding regulation of procurement prices for milk (Reg. No. 10456).

The bill was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on June 7, 2012. The bill includes milk into the category of agricultural products that are subjects of state price regulation.
