The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn considers it inappropriate to prolong the tenth session.

On Monday, answering the journalists? questions, V.Lytvyn noted that there is no need in additional plenary meetings. According to him, the necessary economic decisions need to be considered and adopted during the last plenary meeting on July 3-6.

The Chairman of the Parliament informed that one of the people?s deputies initiated the continuation of the current session submitting the respective draft resolution. "I was surprised to get to know about this document and did not send it for consideration to the respective Committee," he said.

V.Lytvyn explained that people?s deputies have the right to legislative initiative but as far as it goes about the collective body, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, this issue needs to be preliminary discussed. According to him, there was a need to "hold previous discussion and dialogue regarding the reasons to continue the session and the issues  suggested for consideration". The Head of the Verkhovna Rada noted that to continue the work of the session "just in case" would mean to "strengthen nervousness and opposition" in the Parliament.  "I wouldn?t like the Verkhovna Rada to be "dismissed" due to the fact that political temperature is rising," he added.
