The Committee on Environmental Policy, Use of Natural Resources and Chornobyl Aftermath Mitigation upholds the bill to amend the Tax Code of Ukraine (re the support of budget environmental institutions of national and international importance)

The bill (Reg.No.10508) aims at supporting budget environmental institutions by exemption from payment of certain fees and taxes connected with the use of mineral resources to preserve biodiversity.

It was mentioned that at present point legislation determines 14 types of business activities, exempted from payment of levy for water resources. It concerns payment for water used for the needs of external public welfare, for water taken by research institutions for scientific research in the sphere of paddy culture as well as for production of elite rice seeds, etc.The Committee believes that the preservance of objects of natural reserve fund is the issue of state importance. The adoption of the abovementioned bill will allow preserving biological diversity within sites of national and international importance, which are subject to special protection.
