Amendments to the Constitution should be of complex character.

This was stressed by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn answering the journalists? questions on Saturday. He expressed his doubts regarding the fact that the new version of the Constitution will be submitted for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada. According to him, the order and procedure of the new Fundamental Law hasn?t yet been envisaged.

V.Lytvyn believes that the character of the amendments to the Constitution will depend on "the results of the Constitutional Assembly work and on the sentiments in society". He says that, in particular, sections regarding human rights and freedoms in terms of their support and responsibility for their implementation by the authority should be amended. The Chairman of the Parliament reminded that the amendments, in no case, should "aggravate social well-being of people or narrow their scope of rights and freedoms".

"The main thing is to reach consensus and understanding to what extent these changes should be made," V.Lytvyn summed up.
