Ukraine maintains a steadfast position on the regulation of the Transdniester problem proceeding from the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, and entrenching the status of the Transdniester region in the united state.

 

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn said this, meeting Prime Minister of Moldova Vladimir Filat on Friday.

 

"Ukraine is interested in stability and predictability of a dynamically developing Moldova," he stressed. He said that Ukraine welcomes renewal of official negotiations in 5+2 format last year. 

 

In his turn, V. Filat highly appreciated the role of Ukraine in the regulation of the Transdniester problem. He said that stability and predictability of the region are essential.
