The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn had a telephone talk with the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin on Friday.
During the talk, the chairmen exchanged ideas concerning the state and prospects of further development of Ukrainian-Russian relations. The Parties stressed the importance of intensifying and deepening parliamentary component of bilateral relations, in particular, at the level of committees and friendship groups.
Considering the renewal of composition of the deputative body of the State Duma after the parliamentary elections, the heads of the parliaments discussed the necessity to intensify the work of Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Verkhovna Rada and Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
V. Lytvyn and S. Naryshkin agreed with the necessity to further develop cooperation of the leaders of the legislative bodies of the two states. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine invited the Chairman of the State Duma to visit Ukraine with an official visit in the nearest future.
