Volodymyr Lytvyn: Ukraine should increase and expand Turnover with the
Republic of Korea
Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Kim Hwang-Sik.
The Parties discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation and parliamentary contribution into development of inter-state relations.
V. Lytvyn stated that the visit of Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine is of special significance to establish regular political dialogue on the supreme level. "When there is such understanding and dialogue on the high level, cooperation and interpersonal contacts can also develop easily", the Chairman stated, adding that the states should be interested in strengthening the bilateral relations and exerting efforts to promote the states on the international political arena.
The Head of the Ukrainian Parliament is convinced that significance of the parliament in this respect can not be overestimated. "We expect the interparliamentary friendship groups to work efficiently. I am convinced that parliamentary component of our cooperation will become more significant", the Chairman believes.
V. Lytvyn assured that Ukraine is undergoing formation, and experiences "comprehensive transformations." According to him, the main goal is to define the fundamental positions of the state in economic, political, and other spheres. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stressed, "Under such circumstances, all citizens should feel responsible for organizing their personal life to level paternalism on the part of the state."
V. Lytvyn believes that the current
rate of turnover is lower than the capacity of both states. He is convinced
that the structure of turnover needs extending. "We are interested in attracting
Korean investments to the agricultural industry, construction sector, metallurgy
and power engineering", he stated, adding that the Intergovernmental
Ukrainian-Korean Commission on Trade-Economic Cooperation shall be a pioneer in
attainment of this goal.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada assured Mr. Hwang-Sik that the Ukrainian parliament will provide legislative support to the economic cooperation.
Kim Hwang-Sik believes that resources of both states to develop cooperation are more than ample. According to him, cooperation can be established in the sphere of space and aviation, technologies, alternative energy sources, and agricultural industry. He hopes that the issues that were discussed on the supreme level will be considered by the Ukrainian-Korean Commission on Trade-Economic Cooperation.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea attaches great importance to the legislative support in part of attraction of investments.
Kim Hwang-Sik declared that the Korean Party appreciates strengthening of cooperation in the social and cultural spheres. He stressed that opening of a direct air connection with Seoul will facilitate development of contacts between our nations. He also expressed his gratitude to the Ukrainian Party for supporting ethnic Koreans in Ukraine.
V. Lytvyn invited Speaker of the National
Assembly of the Republic of Korea Park Hee-tae to
visit Ukraine.
