Discussing expectable liquidation of "Naftohaz Ukrainy" National Joint-Stock Company, as declared by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, and instruction of the President of Ukraine to draft and submit the program of reformation of "Naftohaz Ukrainy" NJSC by October 1, 2011, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Mykola Tomenko states that any actions to reorganize or liquidate "Naftohaz Ukraine" directly contravene Ukrainian legislation.
The Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine reminded that in February 2007 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine amended the Law of Ukraine "On Pipeline Transportation" (regarding enterprises of major pipeline transport) initiated by Yu. Tymoshenko and Yu. Turchynov. Under the Law, "reorganization (merging, division, allocation, transformation etc) of state-owned enterprises of major pipeline transport and also their privatization are banned." "Thus, if the Ukrainian authorities take the announced move, it will require at least a decision of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine", Deputy Chairman emphasized.
Moreover, M. Tomenko stressed, "If the authorities realize their announcements, it will threaten economic independence of Ukraine, since this idea has been among the priorities of the Russian authorities since the first years of the Ukrainian independence."
Summing up, M. Tomenko stated that 430 People´s Deputies of Ukraine the above-mentioned Law, so no one voted against it. "The Law was a consensus of all the Ukrainian politicians", he stressed.
