The Verkhovna Rada adopted the Bill "On Amendments to Several Legislative Acts of Ukraine" (re Consideration of Cases by the Supreme Court of Ukraine)

The primary purpose of the bill (Reg. No.9151) is to streamline the order of proceedings in the Supreme Court, and improve its activity as the supreme judicial body.

 

The Laws "On Judicial System and the Status of Judges," "On Access to Court Judgments," the Code of Civil Proceedings of Ukraine, the Code of Administrative Justice of Ukraine, the Code of Economic Proceedings of Ukraine, and the Code of Criminal Proceedings of Ukraine are amended.

 

The bill regulates the order of court proceedings in the Supreme Court. Thus, the cassation appeal against judgments of ordinary courts in criminal and civil cases, submitted to the Supreme Court before October 15, 2010, which were set for cassation appeal are scrutinized by the Supreme Court in order and within the scope of authorities effective before the Law comes into force, but not later than by November 1, 2011. Thereafter, the unconsidered cassation appeals shall be directed to the Supreme Specialized Court of Ukraine for the Consideration of Civil and Criminal Cases.
