The Committee on Environmental Policy, Use of Natural Resources and Elimination of Consequences of Chornobyl Disaster recommends the Parliament to recommit the Bill on Amendments to the Law "On Protection of Animals from Cruelty" (on Improvement of Protection Mechanism)

The bill (Reg. No8163) amends the effective Law and specifies term "cruelty to animals", broadens measures to provide humane treatment of animals, namely though implementation of several hours in course of studies in secondary schools and course "Environmental Ethics" in the system of higher education. The bill envisages a number of prohibiting norms in the sphere of animals treatment, namely regarding trapping of animals that are keeping under special treatment, destroying of areal, commercial use of animals etc.

The Committee members emphasized that the bill suggests a number of amendments that duplicate norms of the effective revision of the Law "On Protection of Animals from Cruelty" and in number of cases make it impossible to implement them.
