The bill (Reg. No. 8523) supplements the Law "On Social Security and Legal Protection of Military Servicemen and their Family Members" with a new provision, whereby since January 1, 2012, a fixed official salary and a fixed salary for military servicemen shall total not less than 75% of cash cover.

The bill renews supply of rations to the military servicemen, and grants their family members the right for free travel within the territory of Ukraine with the military servicemen during vacations.

Implementation of these amendments requires extra expenses from the state budget amounting to UAH 500 million annually. However, the Ministry of Finance and the Budget Committee concluded that starting from 2012, state budget expenses will total at least UAH 861,9 million annually. The authors of the bill suggest that these expenditures should be covered by increased revenue from privatization and optimization.

The committee members endorsed the bill. They believe that adoption of the bill will improve financial and material support of the military servicemen and their family members, and correct deficiencies in the legislative acts as to their social security.
