Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, visited the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts in Yerevan

 

Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and members of the official delegation of the Ukrainian Parliament visited the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts in Yerevan.

 

The Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts is an ancient manuscript repository located in Yerevan, Armenia. It holds one of the world's richest depositories of medieval manuscripts and books (17 thousand of manuscripts and more than 100 thousand ancient archive documents) which span a broad range of subjects, including history, philosophy, medicine, literature, art history and cosmography in Armenian and many other languages.

 

After the excursion, V. Lytvyn signed the Distinguished Visitors' Book, having stated that "this unique collection is a brilliant proof of great culture and ancient history of the Armenian nation, the magnificent past is always a guaranty of the future prosperity." He expressed his gratitude to the people preserving these treasures.
