Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of
Ukraine, believes that Regular Business Forums will become an Effective
Instrument of developing Business Connections between Ukraine and Armenia
Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Serzh Sargsyan, President of the Republic of Armenia.
In the beginning of the meeting, V.Lytvyn stated that the official visit on July 11-12, 2011 signified activization of the political Ukrainian-Armenian dialogue on the supreme level. He greeted Mr Sargsyan with the Day of the Constitution of Armenia celebrated on July 5.
Mr Sargsya noted the effectiveness of his visit to Ukraine, as a wide array of cooperation issues was discussed. He called for boosting bilateral economic cooperation, as its potential has not fully been used.
In this respect, V.Lytvyn called for uniting together efforts to implement the resolutions of the 5th session of the Inter-Governmental Ukrainian-Armenian Panel on Economic Cooperation. Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, expects regular business forums to become an effective instrument of developing business connections between Ukraine and Armenia. "Successful and mutually beneficial partnership can be established in the transport sector, machine building, and energy sphere. Ukraine is interested in cooperating with Armenia on the upgrade of electricity generating capacities for thermal power plants, and small and mid-sized hydroelectric power stations," he stated.
V.Lytvyn
recommends boosting cooperation in the metallurgic, agricultural, and
humanitarian sectors. "Cooperation in
science and education should also develop," V.Lytvyn
emphasized.
The participants of the meeting called for boosting cooperation between the legislators of Ukraine and Armenia. The parties recommend organizing meetings of the parliamentary groups of friendship and setting up an inter-parliamentary panel.
The President of the Republic of Armenia expects that presiding over the OSCE, Ukraine will hold a sensible and balanced stand concerning the crucial agenda items.
V.Lytvyn assured the President of Armenia that Ukraine considers it a primary task not to lobby its own interests or interests of particular states, but to support European and international security. "Ukraine will devote special attention to raising efficiency of the OSCE in the prevention of future conflicts and regulation of frozen ones," he stressed.
At the end of the meeting, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine V.Lytvyn presented the official football of EURO-2012 to the President of Armenia.
