Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, is convinced that the state should follow example of socially responsible business in matters of sport and culture assistance.
M. Tomenko believes that today Ukraine is in the state of looking glass politics, when the state within the level of central of local authorities destroys or shut down objects of the sport infrastructure. Namely, M. Tomenko emphasized that when taking into consideration such kinds of sport as big tennis, for example, a number of places assigned for the tennis playing have been liquidated.
Though, according to him, there are positive examples when socially responsible business at own expense build lawn tennis courts ad attract children and young people to it. As an example, he told about nine tennis courts in Rivne region created under command of Volodymyr Kovalets, where more than two hundred children are able to play tennis. During his visit to Rivne region, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine visited their training sessions and presented young sportsmen with tennis-rackets and other accessorizes for tennis. He expressed his appreciation to such initiatives since "today there is a situation when the state defines preparation for Euro-2012 as its biggest priority and rejected funding all the other sport kinds." "Thus, it is extremely important that the business assist in children aspiration to sport", he added.
