On Thursday, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn attended the grand assembly dedicated to the 70th anniversary of formation of the 30th separate Novohrad-Volynskyi Rivne Mechanized Brigade Group of the Red Banner Order and Suvorov Order of II Grade.
"I believe that celebration of the anniversary of your military base is the event of national importance, as it testifies to the role, place and importance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," V.Lytvyn stressed, addressing the ranks and veterans of the brigade group.
On behalf of the Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine-President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, V.Lytvyn congratulated all those affiliated with the brigade group regardless whether they do military service or have resigned.
He suggested publishing history of this glorious military unit which gave the country 22 decoration holders and 30 heroes of the Soviet Union. The Head of the Parliament believes that it embodies the history of entire Armed Forces of Ukraine, especially in the watershed periods. V.Lytvyn sincerely thanked the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, present at the meeting, who "withstood and won" together with all Soviet people. "In those turbulent times they obeyed the order "no step back", and now we order you "no step back from life", as the country needs you as a moral authority, as people of conscience and honour, as witnesses and participants of our dramatic and glorious history," he declared.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that the state would devote more attention to the financial support of the Armed Forces, as "Ukraine has reached stability and predictability which guarantee economic development." According to V.Lytvyn, Ukraine needs battle-worthy, effective, and modern Armed Forces, as "we have things to protect and to be proud of."
The Head of the Parliament conferred decorations of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the military servicemen.
