The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law "On Amnesty in 2011" adjusted for the motions of the President of Ukraine

The bill (Reg. No. 7400) proclaims amnesty in Ukraine. The primary purpose of the bill is to cut down the number of persons kept in the places of detention, thus saving the budget funds spent on the upkeep of the convicted, and maintenance of the facilities. 

 

The Law condones offences and releases the following groups of convicted for the intentional crimes, which are not grave or especially grave as qualified by clause 12 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and for the crimes of negligence which are not grave from the punishment in the form of imprisonment for the certain term and from other punishment not connected with imprisonment:

 

individuals under 18 at the moment of crime committal;

 

women pregnant at the moment of enactment;

 

individuals not deprived of parental rights at the moment of enactment with children under 18 of children with disabilities irrespective of their age;

 

man and women who became 60 and 55 years age respectively at the moment of enactment;

 

war veterans.
