Parliament saved UAH 4,8 million, withholding Salary of the Deputies who do not attend the Plenary Meetings, -  Volodymyr Lytvyn

 

Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, informed that the Parliament saved from September 2010 UAH 4,8 million, withholding salary of the Deputies who do not attend the plenary meetings. He made this statement in the program "Big Politics with Yevhen Kiseliov" on Inter TV channel. "Since I signed the decree in September 2010, UAH 4 million 770 thousand was withheld from the salaries of People´s Deputies who do not attend the meetings", the Head of the Parliament declared.

 

The Chairman of the Parliament informed that the Chairman of the Committee on Rules of Parliament Procedure, Ethics and Support to Work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is trying to cancel this document. V. Lytvyn stated that four Committees refused to observe this document.

 

However, he stated, "Some People's Deputies who do not attend plenary meetings requested to transfer their salaries to charity accounts." According to V. Lytvyn, it throws into a dilemma: "either to save payroll account or to transfer salaries to charity accounts."
