Capacity of OSCE shall be entirely realized in our complicated time. Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman pf the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed his opinion during the meeting on Wednesday with Petros Efthymiou OSCE PA President.
V. Lytvyn stated that Ukraine pays special attention to the participation in OSCE and Parliamentary Assembly. According to the Head of the Parliament, it is quite symbolically that Ukraine accepts newly appointed the OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier with whom Volodymyr Lytvyn plans to hold conversation regarding perspectives f strengthening of cooperation between the parliamentary organizations and executive structures of the OSCE.
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine emphasized that in 2013 Ukraine shall take the chair in the OSCE and stressed that our state would occupy balanced and neutral position concerning pressing issues of agenda and would make all the necessary contribution in their solutions. V. Lytvyn deems among main problems to be solved issues of European and Euro-Atlantic security, prevention of possible conflicts and solution of frozen conflict, terrorism, organized crime, drug sale and trafficking in humans, illegal migration, change of climate, fighting negative consequences of world crisis.
The head of the Parliament emphasized importance of development of actions plan, aimed at increase of OSCE effectiveness, necessity of further strengthening of dialogue on energy security and dialogue with European structures.
V. Lytvyn highly evaluated role of the OSCE in supervision for election process.
"OSCE shall function not only like a barometer but like compass for development of human civilization", he believes.
In his turn, President of the OSCE PA named Ukraine "extremely important state for the OSCE" and highly evaluated contribution of the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation in work of the OSCE PA. "We would like to strengthen and develop our cooperation with the Verkhovna Rada, taking into consideration presidency of Ukraine in the OSCE in 2013", he declared.
P. Efthymiou stated that the OSCE is recognized as one of the most influential international organizations and stressed that "we are ready for coordination of our common work" and increasing of the parliamentary role in the activity of Organsitaion. He agreed with V. Lytvyn on role of the OSCE and Parliamentary Assembly in solution of numerous problem issues and emphasized that they should be solved in package.
P. Efthymiou addressed Volodymyr Lytvyn with the proposition to direct delegation of the Ukrainian parliamentarians to supervise parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan at the end of October.
