The Committee on the National Security and Defense recommends the Verkhovna Rada to adopt the Bill on Amendments to several Laws of Ukraine regarding Wear of Uniform, Use of Distinctive Insignia and Brands

The bill (Reg. No. 4585) prohibits wear of military uniform, uniform of other military units, and distinctive insignia by the unauthorized persons.  

 

The authors argued in favour of the bill, appealing to the fact that numerous state-owned and non-governmental institutions and centers of Cossack movement which have recently appeared in Ukraine use the uniform, its elements, brands, and distinctive insignia of the military servicemen of military units and personnel of the internal affairs bodies, violating the law. 

 

The Committee members believe that adoption of the bill will facilitate demilitarization of the society; prevent crimes connected with the use of uniform, and unauthorized wear of military and special uniform; prevent misuse of powers by civilians with the use of titles, shoulder boards, brands, distinctive insignia of the high-, and low-ranking officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military units.
