Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn visited the memorial photo exhibition at the National Academy of
Arts of Ukraine dedicated to the
10th anniversary of the
terrorist attack in New York
on September 11, 2001.
Addressing the visitors, the Head of the Parliament stated, "We realize that the world has changed after September 11, 2001." He believes that "civilization was flagrantly challenged." V.Lytvyn supposes that casualties of this attack "protected the whole world from the worst scenarios of development in the beginning of the 21th century."
However, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that "performers of the black deed did not expect the American people and the entire world to demonstrate such unity and solidarity." "This fact, as well as consistent fight against terrorism, prevented other destructive scenarios," he stated. "Solidarity, unity, and consistency in terrorism counteraction stopped these plans."
V.Lytvyn
stressed, "We need an active memory to be confident in the future of the world,
our nations, and our families." "Today, more than ever, we need a conventional
wisdom: if necessary, kindness can be with fists," he said. "We should get to the root of the problem- why such events can take place."
Considering the global affairs, V.Lytvyn deems necessary to rely on the young and future generations who must learn to live in a common global home.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine thanked the US Embassy in Ukraine for organizing this exhibition.
