Mykola Tomenko: A Long-Lasting 'Cyprus' Discussion should finally finish, and Real Taxes should be paid

Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, is convinced that the President of Ukraine has a great opportunity to fulfill his election pledges and make big business pay taxes.

The Deputy Chairman admitted that the Republic of Cyprus remains a well-known destination of illegal outflow of Ukrainian capital, while the situation can not be changed until the Agreement between the Government of the USSR and the Republic of Cyprus is denounced.

The Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine announced that he had addressed Mykola Azarov, Prime Minister of Ukraine, with a request to settle the issue of illegal outflow of Ukrainian capital through the Republic of Cyprus. Mykola Tomenko reminded that the effective Agreement between the Government of the USSR and the Government of the Republic of Cyprus on Prevention of Double Taxation of Income and Property exempted any income transferred from one country to another from tax, except of certain cases of taxation of individuals or income of standing representative offices.

The Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine believes that it is high time a long-lasting discussion finished, as the official visit of the President of the Republic of Cyprus to Ukraine envisages not only protocol meetings with the Ukrainian President, but also the Ukrainian-Cyprian negotiations and signing of bilateral documents.
