During his working visit to Vinnytsia, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stated that he did not support federalization of Ukraine at the present stage.

He deems necessary to consider its consequences under the conditions of instability. "As a state, we are very well cut, but badly sawn," he stated. "Instability leads to centrifugal trends." V.Lytvyn reminded of the events in Lviv on the Victory Day which received great publicity. "Similar events take place in other regions, which influences the whole country," he stated.

The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supposes that Ukraine needs unitary decentralization. He also mentioned that Ukraine has such a special feature as autonomous republic. The Head of the Parliament informed about the ongoing discussion of setting up the Committee on Crimea in the Parliament.

According to V.Lytvyn, opponents of this idea logically claim that similar committees on western regions or central regions should later be established, which will tear Ukraine into pieces. The Head of the Parliament stressed that it is a complex issue. He calls for a thorough discussion of the state and administrative-territorial order of Ukraine, as it concerns long-lasting national traditions and customs.  "Numerous factors, such as religious, national and other peculiarities of different communities should be taken into account," he stressed.
