Committee Chairman Anatolii Semynoha analyzed the normative-legal base on the overcoming of consequences of Chornobyl disaster.

It was stated that the normative-legal base on the overcoming of consequences of Chornobyl disaster is not properly substantiated on the part of radiation safety, has certain deficiencies, and needs adjusting due to the change of radiation situation in the contaminated areas.

The speakers drew attention to the lack of mechanism of changing the status of population centres in the radioactive contamination zone. It is necessary to define the status of territories removed from the radioactive contamination zone, promote sustainable development, boost industrial activity of these territories, and arrange a favourable investment climate.
