Volodymyr Lytvyn: Members of Swiss Business and Social Elite intend to foster Cooperation with Ukraine

 

Within the official visit to the Swiss Confederation, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met representatives of Swiss business and social elite in Zurich.  

 

The Parties discussed possible areas of cooperation between Ukraine and Switzerland in the industrial sectors and humanitarian sphere, and its legislative support.

 

At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of the Ukrainian Parliament appreciated the fact that Swiss companies working in Ukraine are willing to expand their activities. "I welcome the fact that you are working or intend to work in Ukraine," he declared.

 

V.Lytvyn supported the initiative of the Swiss party to initiate an agrarian business forum in Ukraine. 

 

Vice-president of the leading building glass producer, which owns 10 factories in Ukraine, announced the possibility of further investments into this branch. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that such a step is sought-after in Ukraine. "It is good of you to develop glass production in Ukraine, as construction is on the rise," he stressed.

 

The Head of the Ukrainian Parliament met the chief executive officer of the world´s leading food producer Nestlé, which has invested USD 200 million in Ukraine so far. V.Lytvyn stressed that Ukraine offers a wide range of business opportunities. "Ukraine has a dynamic market, competition, and powerful companies such as Konti or Roshen, although food production should also be set up in regions and small towns," V.Lytvyn stressed.  

 

The attendants of the meeting also discussed activity of charities. In particular, Peter Oppenheim presented the charitable organization "Lifeline", which is implementing several humanitarian projects in Ukraine. 

 

V.Lytvyn also met Madeleine Albright, Former US Secretary of State, who arrived to participate in the 3rd Alpine Symposium.
