Adam Martyniuk: Ukrainian-Iranian Inter-Parliamentary Relations should boost the Bilateral Inter-State Dialogue
Adam Martyniuk, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Ukraine Akbar Gasemi-Aliabadi.
In the beginning of the meeting, A. Martyniuk greeted Mr. A. Gasemi-Aliabadi with the anniversary of his diplomatic mission in Ukraine.
"History of Ukrainian-Iranian relations testifies a non-problematic character of our relations and offers great prospects", stated the First Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament.
The Parties discussed the current status of bilateral inter-state cooperation. A. Martyniuk agreed with Mr. Ambassador that the level of relations does not correspond to the potential of both states. At the same time, he is convinced that after the change of power in Ukraine and adoption of the legislative fundamentals of foreign and domestic policy, a balanced and sustainable foreign policy course of Ukraine should be expected. He is convinced, "The bilateral inter-state relations will be developed to the full extent." "Ukraine and Iran undoubtedly have a great potential, which is sure to be properly used", stressed A. Martyniuk.
"Our states have positive experience in the industrial cooperation, especially in the sphere of aircraft engineering, where a joint manufacture of АN-140 airplane was organized", informed A. Martyniuk. Furthermore, he reminded, "More than one thousand and a half Ukrainian specialists are working in Iran upon the building of a nuclear power stations." The Ukrainian politician is convinced that there are great research-technical potential in Ukraine to organize and perform such projects.
"To boost economic cooperation, we shall establish effective political connections. Our parliaments shall play an essential part in this direction", believes A. Martyniuk.
According to the First Deputy Chairman, "The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine parliamentary delegation will make a visit to Iran in spring 2011." "I hope that exchange of parliamentary delegations on the level of subject committees and friendship groups will launch the visits on the supreme level", emphasized A.Martyniuk.
"Ukrainian foreign policy is based on the principles of pragmatism. I expect this approach to strengthen the Ukrainian-Iranian inter-state dialogue", stressed the First Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament.
In his turn, the Head of the Diplomatic Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Ukraine declared his confidence in "the essential role of our parliaments in the development of the Ukrainian-Iranian cooperation." He stressed, "The decisive function will be useful and fruitful for the inter-state bilateral relations."
