Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, considers human factor to be essential for the successful development of Ukrainian-Polish relations.
"In the 21st century, it is not the states that will set the territories and borders, and determine the economic potential, but the people, their welfare, and their possibility to satisfy cultural demands and reach personal fulfillment," stated V.Lytvyn in the interview to Vinnytsia Regional State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company. He stressed that human factor underlies Ukrainian-Polish relations.
According to the Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, he is glad to take part in the festivities dedicated to the celebration of the World Day of Polonia and Poles living abroad. "Moreover, I was born in Zhytomyr region, and was brought up among the native Poles," remarked V.Lytvyn. He also characterized Poles as open, sincere and principled people.
The Head of the Parliament stated that Poland had reached more achievements than Ukraine, as it was sovereign, and its people were consistent in the issues of domestic and foreign policy. He believes that Ukraine should study Polish experience of state-building. V.Lytvyn attaches great importance to the regional bilateral cooperation and realization of potential of different regions.
V.Lytvyn informed that the 20th festival of Ukrainian culture dedicated to the 20th anniversary of independence of Ukraine will be held in Poland in the end of June and the beginning of July. The festival is organized under the patronage of Ukrainian and Polish Presidents.
V.Lytvyn informed that he invited Polish Senate Marshal Bogdan Borusewicz to visit his paternal home in the village of Sloboda-Romanivska (Zhytomyr region).
