Foreign policy of Ukraine should be guided by state interests only. Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, made this statement on Friday in the interview to Rada television channel, asked about the expectable accession of Ukraine to the Customs Union.
He called for assessing the partners for serious trade relations and marketing domestic products. Thus, according to the Head of the Parliament, it is necessary to make all the calculations and "choose the best option." "The main point is that the positive result shall cover possible losses", V. Lytvyn stressed.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada declared, "Ukraine shall not set Europe against Russia, but try to cooperate with them in appropriate frameworks." "The result will depend upon our skills and standpoints. We shall not recede from our positions", he believes.
"We are supposed to think about our state and suggest that the public should support the decisions to improve their life", summed up V. Lytvyn.
