The Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information held a Round Table Discussion "Ukraine and Turkey on the Way towards Information Society: Current Situation and Outlooks"

Opening the meeting, Committee Chairman Andrii Shevchenko stated that further development of mass media is an essential task both for Ukraine and Turkey. Speaking about the International NGO "Dialogue Eurasia Platform" which co-organized the event, the People's Deputy of Ukraine informed that the organization consisted of 13 countries, including Ukraine and Turkey, which is important for the development of relations between these countries. "One of the key tasks for the both states is to move forward in communication and cultural exchange", stated the Committee Chairman.

 

Yevhen Dobriak, Head of the Group on the Inter-Parliamentary Liaison with the Turkish Republic, emphasized, "Ukraine and Turkey have the same aim European integration." According to the speaker, Ukraine and Turkey are strategic partners, so close inter-state relations in the sphere of mass media should be strengthened.

 

Volodymyr Serhiichuk, Co-Chairman of the International NGO "Dialogue Eurasia Platform", stated that the task of the organization is to foster mutual understanding between the states via international conferences, seminars, and round table discussions.

 

Harun Tokak, Co-Chair of the International NGO "Dialogue Eurasia Platform", stressed that the organization considered development of relations between Ukraine and Turkey as a priority task. "We have not reached the ultimate point in the inter-state contacts, so much remains to be done", the Co-Chair is convinced.
