On Monday, M. Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, delivered a speech at the closing ceremony of the Library Innovation Services Fair in the Ukrainian House. Mykola Tomenko greeted the participants of the event and participated in the award ceremony of libraries-winners, having presented them with the latest books and works of his Fund.

In his speech, Deputy Chairman emphasized that common efforts helped to suspend the struggle between businessmen, local authorities and libraries for the premises. "The most essential task of Ukrainian libraries is mastering new technologies of XXI century", stressed M. Tomenko. According to him, it means maximum involvement of innovations such as e-libraries and web sites to support effective work of the libraries.

M. Tomenko declared that libraries are of special importance for the vulnerable groups, since they are the only territories of free services and consultations.

The Deputy Chairman of the Parliament stressed that the event demonstrated a new mission of the Ukrainian library. He believes that if the Ukrainian libraries master this new mission, the question 'How can I find a library?' will be popular again.
