The Committee listened to the report of the Ukrainian delegates to the negotiations with the European Union on Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.
It was declared that conclusion of negotiations on the Association Agreement, which is based on the principles of "political association and economic integration" and consists of provisions on "the integrated free trade zone", remains a key issue in the relations between Ukraine and the EU.
The structure of the forthcoming Agreement shall be as follows: Preamble, General Provisions, Political Dialogues, Justice, Freedom and Security, Economic and Sectoral Cooperation, Integrated Free Trade Zone, General, Institutional and Final Provisions.
The participants of the hearings were informed about the outcome of negotiations.
The Committee members emphasized that the results of negotiations were reflected in the common reports on progress in the negotiations on Association Agreement, the four of which were adopted during the 14th EU-Ukraine summit (Brussels, November 22, 2010).
Further to the hearings, the committee resolved:
to consider the negotiations on the integrated free trade zone between Ukraine and the European Union as an essential part of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU and one of the most important direction of the European integration;
to continue reporting to the Committee on European Integration on the state of negotiations between Ukraine and the EU;
to address the President of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with a request to facilitate drafting of the bills to strengthen European integration of Ukraine and support the negotiations on the free trade zone; to continue consultations with the EU member-states to reinforce the position of Ukraine; to work with domestic producers to consider their interests in the course of negotiations with the EU on the free trade zone; to discuss compensation on the part of the EU to avert possible negative consequences for Ukraine after introduction of the free trade zone.
