Mykola Tomenko: It is Necessary to investigate the Facts of Privatization of Premises and Land of the Educational Establishments

Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, sent the letter to Viktor Yanukovych, President of Ukraine, and Viktor Pshonka, Prosecutor General of Ukraine, with a request to investigate the situation with privatization of lands and premises of the educational establishments in Ukraine.

"When the society is occupied with the discussion of educational reform and is protecting itself from the harmful policy in educational institutions, total redistribution of property with the purpose of further privatization of educational premises in Kyiv and other regional centers may be observed", stated M. Tomenko. He announced that according to the appeals he received, the situation concerns premises of Innovation Technologies Institute in Saksahanskoho Street in Kyiv, Interregional Center of Occupational Retraining of Military Officers in Dniprovsk district of Kyiv, territories of student recreation camps of the National University of Nutrition Technologies, premises of accountant's office and other administrative offices of Kyiv Taras Shevchenko National University, and many others.

According to the Deputy Chairman, as the officials of the Ministry of Science and Education, Youth and Sports try to convince in the lack of budget funds for education, increase the price of children´s lunches in schools, fail to pay educational scholarship on time, plan to increase the fees for the university hostels, and reduce financial independence of universities, it would be more sensible to facilitate more effective use of educational premises, instead of withdrawing lands in Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine.

Hence, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine asked the President of Ukraine and the Prosecutor General of Ukraine to investigate the above-mentioned facts to prevent crimes in this sphere.
