The bill (Reg. No.7551), submitted
by People´s Deputy of Ukraine O. Skybinetskyi, restores
parliamentary control over the activity of the Security Service of Ukraine
concerning its abidance by the Ukrainian legislation. Namely, it suggests a new
version of clause 31 of the effective Law, whereby "a permanent control over
the activity of the Security Service of Ukraine and its abidance by the law is
performed by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Control over the observance of human
rights and liberties in the activity of the Security Service
of Ukraine is effected by the Ombudsperson of the Verkhovna Rada of
Ukraine."
The bill amends clause 13 that regulates duties of the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine.
It also amends clause 15 "Appointment of the Security Service Personnel."
The order of appointment and dismissal of the Security Service of Ukraine officials is fixed by the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine pursuant to the legislation of Ukraine.
