Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and Laurent Mosar, President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, call for boosting the Inter-Parliamentary Dialogue

Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stated that Ukraine regards Luxembourg as a country with lasting democratic traditions, that has significant achievements in the socio-economic development, and is rightfully considered as one of the global financial centers.  He stressed that our country highly appreciated the authority of Luxembourg as one of the founding fathers of the European Union and an active supporter of the European integration.

 

 

The Head of the Ukrainian Parliament drew attention to the mutual willingness to establish "fruitful, sustainable, and effective parliamentary relations" at the level of the parliamentary committees, panels and groups of friendship. He also stated that Ukraine appreciated the experience of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in parliamentarism.

The Head of the Ukrainian Parliament expects the lasting dialogue to foster the bilateral relations and Ukraine´s attraction to the European affairs.  

 

In his turn, Laurent Mosar stated that his visit was the first visit of President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to Ukraine. He highly appreciated the level of bilateral relations, and called for strengthening them on the parliamentary level.

 

L. Mosar also declared, "Luxembourg highly appreciates the efforts of Ukraine concerning intensification of cooperation with the EU." He stated that his state supports the European goals of Ukraine. V. Lytvyn emphasized that the main priority of foreign policy of Ukraine is integration into the European political, economic, and legal community.

 

The Parties called for further development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Namely, they discussed the work upon the Convention between Ukraine and Luxembourg on Prevention of Dual Taxation and Tax Evasion.

 

V. Lytvyn called for strengthening the legislative basis of bilateral relations. He stated that Ukraine is interested in conclusion of bilateral inter-governmental agreements on mutual protection of secret information and on maritime traffic, and also the Program of Cooperation in the sphere of culture and arts.

 

V. Lytvyn and L. Mosar stressed the importance of development of bilateral relations in the sphere of culture and humanities. Namely, they discussed intensification of cooperation between the educational establishments, and student exchange.

 

The President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg invited V. Lytvyn to visit his country. V. Lytvyn accepted the invitation to visit the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and announced that the diplomatic institutions would coordinate the dates of the visit.
