Asked by the journalists of Radio Svoboda about possible development of events during today's session of Kyiv Council, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, responded that Kyiv Council factions in opposition would vote for dismissal of Oles Dovhyi.

According to the Deputy Chairman, in the light of the present situation in the Ukrainian capital such decision is out of the question, since all members of L. Chernovetskyi's young team are guilty, which is supported by ample evidence of their criminal activity, so all of them shall bear equal responsibility.

Thus, Deputy Chairman is convinced that all the opposition factions shall be unanimous and uphold this dismissal. As to the appointment of a new Secretary of Kyiv Council, Mykola Tomenko stressed that Kyiv citizens shall choose their authorities by themselves at the early elections of Kyiv mayor and Kyiv council. He reminded that the majority in the Verkhovna Rada failed to uphold such a proposal, so a new majority might be formed in the Council, and a new Secretary might be appointed. "A new candidate to the office will be supported by those factions that uphold activity of the President and Oleksandr Popov. The factions in opposition will not support this decision", admitted M. Tomenko.
