The Committee on Legislative Support of Law Enforcement recommends The Verkhovna Rada to adopt the Bill on Amendments to several Legislative Acts of Ukraine (re Establishment of Criminal Responsibility for the Abuse of State Language and Languages of National Minorities of Ukraine)

The Committee members scrutinized two bills: on Amendments to several Legislative Acts of Ukraine (re Establishment of Criminal Responsibility for the Abuse of State Language and Languages of National Minorities of Ukraine) under Reg. No. 8092, submitted by People´s Deputy Yu. Hnatkevych, and on Amendments to several Legislative Acts of Ukraine (re Establishment of Criminal Responsibility for the Abuse of State Language and Languages of National Minorities of Ukraine) under Reg. No. 8092-1, submitted by People´s Deputy A. Yatseniuk.

 

The bills supplement the Criminal Code with a new provision 338-1 that establishes responsibility for public abuse of the state language of Ukraine, Russian language and languages of other national minorities of Ukraine.

 

The Committee members recommend that The Verkhovna Rada adopts the bill under Reg. No. 8092-1 as a basis, and rejects the bill under Reg. No. 8092.
