The primary purpose of the bill (Reg. No. 7190) is to set up the fundamental principles of establishment and activity of agrarian chambers in Ukraine as non-governmental, self-governing organizations of economic entities that perform respective activity in the agricultural sector to develop professional self-government in the sphere and facilitate development of agricultural production.
An agrarian chamber should be a non-governmental, self-governing organization uniting legal entities and sole proprietors, as well as their production units, associations and unions, that conduct entrepreneurial activities in the agricultural sector, or deal with processing or provision-sale operations.
The Committee members characterized the objective of the Agrarian Chamber of Ukraine as "consolidation of efforts of currently uncoordinated professional agrarian organizations to raise effectiveness of the agrarian sector, the rate of income and welfare of agricultural producers and rural population."
The bill also specifies the rights of the agrarian chambers, and the sources of their property acquisition.
