Ukrainian Party was also represented
by Yevhen Dobriak, Chairman
of the Sub-Committee on Global Security and International Cooperation of the Foreign
Affairs Committee, and Ihor Dolhov,
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Kingdom of
Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The Party of Luxembourg was represented
by Xavier Bettel, Head of the Faction of the
Democratic Party in the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg,
and Jean Faltz, Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to Ukraine.
Taras Chornovil welcomed the distinguished guest, called for boosting inter-state relations, and declared, "The level of the visit of the Luxembourgish delegation corresponds to its content."
The Parties discussed the current state of relations between Ukraine and Luxembourg, and called for establishing sustainable inter-parliamentary contacts between the committees and the groups of friendship.
T. Chornovil suggested setting up a deputy group of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on inter-parliamentary liaison with the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. He informed that the Foreign Affairs Committee would shortly initiate setting up of such deputy group of friendship. The First Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee stated that it would become the first step towards development of bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation, and support direct contacts with the members of the Luxembourgish parliament.
The Parties called for further development of trade-economic cooperation. They deem necessary to settle the issue on non-ratification of the inter-governmental Convention between Ukraine and Luxembourg on dual tax prevention, and counteract income tax and capital duty evasion.
The President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg expressed his gratitude to the Ukrainian Party for the organized meeting. He dwelled upon the political situation in the country, and work of the Parliament of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. He called for boosting political, economic, and trade cooperation, and fostering bilateral relations. The Head of the Chamber of Deputies also hopes for further fruitful inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Laurent Mosar invited the Committee members to make a visit to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
