Mykola Tomenko appealed to the Prime Minister with a request to investigate the situation with Dnipropetrovsk House of Organ and Chamber Music.

M.Tomenko stated that according to the mass media, in March 2011, Dnipropetrovsk House of Organ and Chamber Music was transferred into ownership of Dnipropetrovsk episcopate of Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Representatives of both regional authorities and the church confirmed this information.

The Deputy Chairman reminded that Dnipropetrovsk concert hall has exclusive acoustic properties. It contains a unique 12-ton organ manufactured under an individual design. The musical instrument is under the protection of UNESCO World Heritage Committee, and is in the top ten of Europe. Famous organists from Ukraine, Italy, France, Czech Republic, Poland and Latvia have performed in this concert hall.  It is also a venue of the international festivals.

According to M.Tomenko, although the Head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council stated that the issue on resettlement of the House of Organ and Chamber Music would shortly be regulated, the problem is that the organ was manufactured especially for the acoustics of Dnipropetrovsk organ hall, and its resettlement is strictly undesirable, as the organ might lose its sound.

However, M.Tomenko drew attention to the dangerous tendency in the cultural management of late. Thus, particular buildings are transferred to the religious communities, while new premises for the cultural objects are not allotted.

The Deputy Chairman stressed that such cultural management is "inadmissible and shameful." "Such resolutions should be balanced and adopted after the expert review by consent of the territorial community," stated the Deputy Chairman.
