The Committee on Legislative Support of Law Enforcement recommends The Verkhovna Rada to adopt the Bill on Amendments to several Legislative Acts of Ukraine regarding Violation of Laws on the Personal Data Protection

No.7355), submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers, amends the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements, the Code of Criminal Proceedings of Ukraine and the Law "On Information." Namely, it specifies the term ‘personal data´ in clause 23 of the Law "On Information"; sets administrative responsibility for infringements in the sphere of personal data protection in clauses 188-37 and 188-38 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements; authorizes the state body on personal data protection to consider the cases on infringements (clauses 244-19 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements); presents a new version of clause 182-1 of the Criminal Code.

 

The People´s Deputies expressed several remarks to the provisions of the bill to be excluded in the second reading. 

 

The Committee members uphold the bill, as its adoption regulates responsibility for the infringements in the sphere of personal data protection, meeting the effective European standards in this sphere.
