Mykola Tomenko: Ukraine should strive for upbringing a Healthy and Active Young Generation, not the Consumer and 'Beer-Oriented' One
On Wednesday, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, opened the parliamentary hearings on children and youth health improvement and recreation. He stated that due to the lack of the Government´s attention, school and media programs, and parental care, most young people in Ukraine are turning into a ‘beer- consumer´ generation.
M. Tomenko deems necessary to motivate young generation and design new programs for recreation and health improvement of young people and children. The Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that according to figures from a recent opinion poll, most young people aged under 18 are consuming alcohol, while accordion to the State Youth and Sport Department, not even 10% of young people can swim.
