Mykola Tomenko: Parliament will not support Anti-Constitutional Deterioration of Social Security of Students and Teaching Staff of the Higher Education Establishments
Staying in Poltava on Thursday, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met the students and the teaching board of Poltava V.Korolenko National Pedagogical University. Asked about the forthcoming educational reforms, M.Tomenko responded that the Parliament would not support anti-constitutional deterioration of a current social standard of education.
The Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine admitted the problems with the ‘pseudo-higher education establishments´ and the low-quality education in many education establishments in rural areas and small towns. However, he believes that quality and importance of successful higher education establishments with a long-lasting tradition should not be questioned.
As to the increase of tuition fees and other services, the Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine believes that the Parliament will oppose this idea. "It contravenes clause 22 of the Constitution of Ukraine," M.Tomenko stressed.
Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, also plans to discuss celebration of the 170th anniversary of birth of Mykhailo Drahomanov with Volodymyr Marchenko, Head of the Regional Council, and People´s Deputy Vadym Petrenko. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the resolution "On Celebration of the 170th Anniversary of Birth of Mykhailo Drahomanov, Prominent Ukrainian Writer, Publicist, Historian, and Public Figure" last week.
