Establishment of dialogue and search for compromise in the parliament is a top priority. Volodymyr
Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, made this statement, meeting Hans-Jurgen Heimsoeth, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic
of Germany to Ukraine.
"Dialogue and ongoing discussion are necessary to pass important resolutions," V.Lytvyn stated. "Despite the lack of time, our intentions and actions should be coordinated and transparent."
He drew attention to the absence of conflicts between the branches of authority and the willingness to implement reforms.
Asked about the rights of the opposition, V.Lytvyn stated that factions non-affiliated with the majority have vast opportunities to raise public awareness. Representatives of the opposition are chairing most parliamentary committees. However, he believes that the opposition should suggest more alternatives to the initiatives of the authorities, not relating the political battles abroad.
The Head of the Parliament called for strict observance of legislation in part of individual ballot, stating that the voters would assess the work of every people´s deputy at the coming parliamentary elections.
The Parties also discussed the state and prospects of bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The Ambassador highly appreciated the current level of inter-parliamentary liaison. He announced that members of the German-Ukrainian group of friendship of the Bundestag and members of the Bundestag Home Affairs Committee would visit Ukraine this year.
According to Hans-Jurgen Heimsoeth, the visit of the Committee representatives is utterly important in the context of implementation of the action plan on visa-free regime between Ukraine and the EU member states.
In his turn, V.Lytvyn assured that members of the Bundestag will be supported in the organization of meetings in Ukraine. He declared that Ukraine was looking forward to the visit of the Bundestag President in the year 2012.
