On Thursday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Vytautas
Landsbergis, member of the European Parliament,
former
President of the Seimas of the Lithuanian Republic.
V.Lytvyn and V. Landsbergis discussed the European prospects of Ukraine and the political-economic situation in our state.
V.Lytvyn stated that Ukraine had to fulfill numerous tasks to reach the European Union and meet its goals of European integration. He calls for establishing dialogue and "seeking compromises within the state to make progress."
The Head of the Ukrainian Parliament mentioned the idea of ‘drawing´ Ukraine to the European processes, which should help settle the domestic issues.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declared that Ukraine was concerned about acquiring the status of an EU associated member, singing of the free trade zone agreement with the EU member nations, and introducing a visa-free regime.
V. Landsbergis stated that Ukraine should strictly follow the course of democratic transformations, "sending good news to the European Union."
